The Müllerwiese Stadium is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Saxon city ​​of Bautzen . It is approved for 5,000 spectators and offers 500 covered seats in the main grandstand. It is currently the home ground of the football club FSV Budissa Bautzen . In earlier times it was the venue for BSG Motor Bautzen, the predecessor club of Budissa Bautzen.

history

The Müllerwiese stadium was opened on May 29, 1929 as the “Städtische Kampfbahn Müllerwiese”. On the occasion of the rise of BSG Motor Bautzen in 1962 in the second-rate GDR league , it was extensively renovated and space was created for 10,000 spectators. The attendance record dates from April 30, 1966, when 15,000 spectators were counted in the 1965/66 GDR Cup final between BSG Chemie Leipzig and BSG Lokomotive Stendal (1-0). On April 26, 1977 the B international match between the GDR and Romania (1-1) took place in the Müllerwiese stadium. From October 2000 to spring 2002 the facility was renovated for a total of 4.2 million euros . A complete renovation and new building took place. Since then, the stadium has had a natural grass pitch , irrigation system , floodlights , new sanitary and functional rooms and a six-lane athletics facility. The 24,000 m² stadium area also features an artificial turf field , a basketball field and a small football pitch with artificial turf.
