The Friedensstadion is a soccer stadium with athletics facility in the Saxon-Anhalt city of Halberstadt , where the soccer club VfB Germania Halberstadt plays its home games.
history
The Peace Stadium was built from 1929. In 1937 the stadium was opened under the name Halberstädter Sportfeld . In 1950, on the occasion of the GDR athletics championships, it was given the name that is still valid today.
Remodeling 2011
After the main user VfB Germania Halberstadt was promoted to the regional league in 2011 , it was decided to convert the stadium. The foundation stone was laid in June 2011. The renovation of the Peace Stadium should be completed by spring 2012. A temporary grandstand was built by the end of July 2011 so that matches could continue as planned in the 2011/12 season. In 2012 the new main grandstand with 500 covered seats was opened.
