Veaceslav Gojan (born May 18, 1983 in Grimăncăuţi , Briceni district , Moldovan SSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Moldovan boxer . Among other things, he was 15-times Moldovan champion, became vice-European champion in 2002 and European champion in 2011, he also won a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games and a silver medal at the 2008 World Cup .
Boxing career
Veaceslav Gojan started boxing in 1994, was trained by Petru Kaduk and won 15 Moldovan championship titles (2000, 2001, 2002 and 2006 in light flyweight, 2003 and 2007 in flyweight, as well as in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 in bantamweight).
At the European Championships in Perm in 2002 , he won the silver medal in the light flyweight division when he was only defeated in the final against Sergei Kazakov . At the 2004 European Championships in Pula he was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Salim Salimow and at the 2006 European Championships in Plovdiv in the round of 16 against Howhannes Danieljan .
After losing to Amnat Ruenroeng at the 2007 World Championships in Chicago , he reached the final of the 2008 European Olympic qualification in Pescara . He had thus qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , where he reached the semifinals by winning against Chawazi Chatsygov, Gu Yu and Akhil Kumar and was eliminated from Enchbatyn Badar-Uugan with a bronze bantamweight medal . He ended the European Championships in Liverpool in 2008 after losing to Luke Campbell in the round of 16 after defeating Artur Grigoryan in the preliminary round . He also won the silver medal in bantamweight at the 2008 World Cup in Moscow , when he had reached the final by beating Sergei Wodopjanow and lost there against Yankiel León . For these achievements, Gojan was voted Moldova's Boxer of the Year and Moldova's Sportsman of the Year in 2008. In 2009 he received the Order of Gloria muncii from President Vladimir Voronin .
After losing to Gu Yu at the 2009 World Championships in Milan and losing to Salomo N'tuve in the round of 16 at the 2010 European Championships in Moscow , he won the 2011 bantamweight championships in Ankara . He defeated Oreste Molina, Edgar Walth , Detelin Dalakliew , Răzvan Andreiana and Dmitri Poljanski and thus became the first European boxing champion of the Republic of Moldova.
He then started at the 2011 World Championships in Baku , where he lost to Orzubek Shayimov . At the European Olympic qualification in 2012 in Trabzon he was eliminated against Pavlo Ishchenko , at the 2013 European Championships in Minsk against Samir Məmmədov and at the 2013 World Championships in Almaty against Vladimir Nikitin .
2014 he won the gold medal in the bantamweight in the EU Championships in Sofia , was defeated at the European Championships in 2015 in Samokov against Nurettin Ovat and at the 2015 European Games in Baku against Bachtowar Nasirow .
At the 2016 Olympic qualification tournaments in Samsun and Baku, he was eliminated from Cavid Çələbiyev and Ham Sang-myeong before reaching a qualifying place .
At the 2017 European Championships in Kharkiv he lost to Mykola Butsenko .

In the 2011/2012 season Gojan boxed for the eventual champion Milano Thunder and in the following season for the German team German Eagles in the World Series of Boxing .
