Enchbatyn Badar-Uugan ( Mongolian Энхбатын Бадар-Ууган ; born June 3, 1985 in Ulaanbaatar ) is a Mongolian boxer. Badar-Uugan was bronze medalist at the 2006 Asian Games , silver medalist at the 2007 World Championships, 2007 Asian Champion and 2008 Olympic Champion .

Career

Badar-Uugan's first international championships were the 2005 World Championships , in which he was eliminated in the flyweight (up to 51 kg) but already in the first fight against Bato-Munko Vankeev, Belarus (29:27). In 2006 he started at the Asian Games and reached the bantamweight (up to 54 kg) semi-finals, which he lost to Han Soon-chul , South Korea (29:19). In the same year he also won the student world championships in Almaty .

At the 2007 World Championships Badar-Uugan beat u. a. Vittorio Parrinello , Italy (19:14), and Joseph Murray , England (20:11) before he faced Russian Sergei Wodopjanow in the final , to whom he lost 16:14 points. At the Asian Championships in the following year, Badar-Uugan was then also Asian champion unhindered.

The high point of Badar-Uugan's career was the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . After victories over Óscar Valdez , Mexico 15: 4), John Joe Nevin , Ireland (9: 2), Khumiso Ikgopoleng, Botswana (15: 2), and Veaceslav Gojan , Moldova (15: 2), he reached the final. In this he faced the Cuban representative Yankiel León , whom he also clearly dominated and beat with 16: 5 points.

After this greatest success of his career Badar-Uugan started in any international championship. Apart from a third place in featherweight (up to 57 kg) at the Presidents Cup 2010 in Astana, there were no more tournaments to report. In 2012 Badar-Uugan went to a training camp again in order to take part in an Olympic qualification tournament, but participation was prevented by a back injury.
