Han Soon-chul

Han Soon-chul ( 한순철 ; born December 30, 1984 ) is a South Korean boxer . Han won the silver medal at the Asian Games in 2006 in the bantamweight , the bronze medal at the 2010 Asian Games in lightweight and took part in the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing and silver medalist at the 2012 Olympics in London .

Career

Han took part in the Asian Championships for the first time in 2005, but was eliminated in the first fight against the eventual Asian champions Joan Tipon , Philippines (26:12). He had more success at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha . Here he could u. a. with a victory over Enchbatyn Badar-Uugan , Mongolia (29:19), reach the final, which he again lost to Joan Tipon (21:10) and thus won the silver medal in the bantamweight (-54 kg).

In 2007 Han took part in the bantamweight world championships for the first time and was eliminated after defeating Vachagan Avagyan, Armenia (20:12), against Maxim Tretyak, Ukraine (35:21).

The missed qualification for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Han tried to catch up at the Asian Olympic qualifying tournaments in 2008. He was eliminated in the first tournament in Bangkok in the first fight against the 2004 silver medalist Worapoj Petchkoom , Thailand (22: 7). In the second tournament in Astana , Han reached the semi-finals, which he lost against Xurshid Tojiboyev , Uzbekistan (AB 3rd). In the decisive battle for the last Asian quota place, Han Dinesh defeated Kumara Mahju, Sri Lanka (14: 4).

At the Olympic Games, Han lost in the round of 16 against Héctor Manzanilla , Venezuela (17: 6).

In 2009 Han took part in the World Championships again, but failed in the lightweight (-60 kg) after a victory over Francisco Vargas, Mexico (12: 5), in the round of 16 prematurely to Domenico Valentino , Italy (RSC 2nd).

At the 2010 Asian Games , Han won his second international medal: He reached the semifinals, lost it to Hu Qing , China (10: 7), and thus won the bronze medal. In the following year, Han fails in the first fight at the Asian Championships against the later bronze medalist Abdilay Anarbay, Kyrgyzstan (20:17).

At the 2012 World Championships , Han lost after victories against Ivan Baranchik, Belarus (19:12), Syimyk Abdyldabek, Kyrgyzstan (24:11), and Liu Qiang , China (16: 9), in the quarter-finals against eventual runner-up Yasniel Toledo , Cuba (15:10). With the associated 6th place, he qualified directly for the 2012 Olympic Games in London . There he defeated Mohamed Eliwa from Egypt 11: 6, Wasgen Safarjanz from Belarus +13: 13, Fazliddin Gʻoibnazarov from Uzbekistan 16:13 and in the semifinals Evaldas Petrauskas from Lithuania 18:13. In the final he met the Ukrainian Vasyl Lomatschenko , to whom he had to admit defeat (19: 9), and thus won the silver medal.
