Act

At the University of Oldenburg, Wopp redesigned the sports facilities together with Jürgen Dieckert , aligned the concept with recreational sports and opened up university sports to the Oldenburg population. At the University of Osnabrück he dealt with the analysis and planning of sports development. He developed future scenarios and project initiatives with several German sports organizations and municipalities, including Berlin , Osnabrück , Hamburg , Hanover and Oldenburg . In his research, Wopp dealt among other things with systematic trend research and the question of what the right sport is "for everyone" because high-performance sport can not be a model for the general population. One answer for him lay in the field of alternative play and movement culture of " pantomime , clowning , circus movement arts, shadow games , movement theater , new games , but also in Asian forms of movement and Afro dance ". Wopp also made an outstanding contribution to the connection between sport and culture. He founded a hands-on circus and a circus school in Oldenburg, organized juggling festivals and sports theater productions.

Wopp was spokesman for the Sports and Space Commission in the German Association for Sports Science and a member of the expert committee on sports development in the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB). From 2002 to 2004 he was dean of the Department of Education and Cultural Studies at the University of Osnabrück, from 2008 to 2010 spokesman for the department and since April 2010 a member of the Senate.
