Faces of the Moment is the debut EP by the US post-grunge band Chiba-Ken , which was produced on their own label. This label is also called Chiba-Ken . The EP has 7 tracks and a total playing time of almost half an hour. It was released in September 2005. The songs the band stand at Poppa Tony Music under license . Due to the good sales, the indie label Gotham Records became aware of the band. Through their Demo Winter Sessions , which were produced in early 2006, the label contacted the band and signed them.

Cover and layout

The cover shows a hand with blood flowing down on a white background. If you open the CD case, you can see a female body on whose left arm is the source of the light flow of blood. The face was shown transfigured for security reasons. Tenille De Freitas and Danielle Elyse Romano were invited by the band to act as cover models. The cover layout and its design comes from Joshua Brain Jaffe, the band's bass player .

The songs were all written and produced by the band. The album was recorded at Purple Light Studios and tracked, mixed and mastered by Michael Barille. Kenneth Schalk helped Barile with the tracking.

The EP was sold worldwide. In Germany you can order the album from Amazon and download it as a download album. The album is also offered on ITunes , EMusic and CD Baby .

Music genre

Due to the increasing aggressiveness of the instruments in most songs, the music style can be assigned to post-grunge . Singer George William mainly uses clear vocal parts, with screaming parts also being audible in most of the songs , which describes the band's musical style in more detail. The band mixes their style of music with post-hardcore and screamo elements. Lyrically, most of the songs on the EP are about social grievances in US society.

criticism

Janelle Jones describes the album as beautiful, yet aggressive. The critic describes the song The Distance From Here as a really well done finale of a great EP, although she only classifies the song Holy Water as weak.
