Faimalaga Luka

Faimalaga Luka ( 1940 - August 19, 2005 ) was Governor General of Tuvalu . In this function he represented the British Queen Elizabeth II as head of state.

Luka initially worked as a broadcaster. During his political career he served in various offices. Among other things, he was Minister of Health and from 1999 Minister of the Interior of the country. After the death of Prime Minister Ionatana Ionatana , he was elected by Parliament on February 24, 2001 as his successor.

Luka had to resign as early as December 14, 2001 after losing a vote of confidence in parliament.

On September 9, 2003 he was appointed Governor General Tuvalus. Since there is a mandatory retirement age of 65 in Tuvalu, his term of office ended in April 2005. His successor was Filoimea Telito
