Fairfield is the county capital and seat of the county seat of Freestone County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located at the intersection of Interstate 45 with US Highway 75 and 84 in the center of the county in east Texas and has a total area of ​​11.7 km² without any significant water surface.

The place was founded with the name Mound Prairie , but renamed in 1850 when the place became the seat of the county administration.
