Farmers Branch is a city in Dallas County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located on Interstate 35 and Highway 77, about 20 km north of Dallas in the northwest of the county and has a total area of 31.1 km² without any significant water surface.

According to the 2000 census, 27,508 people lived here in 9,766 households and 6,933 families. The population density was 885.1 inhabitants per km ². The racial the population was composed of 78.38% White, 2.40% African American, 0.55% Native American, 2.92% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, and 13.01% other ethnic groups. About 2.71% were mixed race and 37.23% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 9,766 households, 32.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 56.5% of these were married couples living together. 9.8% were single mothers and 29.0% were non-families. 22.9% of all households were single households and 7.6% had people living there who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.80 and the average family size was 3.31 people.
25.6% of the population were under 18 years old, 9.5% 18 to 24, 31.4% 25 to 44, 21.4% 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 101.4 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 99.4 men.
