The Falkert is 2308  m above sea level. A. high mountain in the municipality of Reichenau in Carinthia , Austria . It belongs to the mountain group of the Nockberge , the highest and westernmost mountain group of the Gurktal Alps in the eastern central Alps of Europe .

Appearance

Visually, the Falkert blends in well with the panorama of the Nockberge as a gently undulating grass mountain. One of the few optical exceptions in this region is the southern flank of the Falkert, which has an impressive rock face.

Tourism is very important to the Falkert. To this end, the Falkert has over time been expanded into a family recreation area with many activities and accommodation options around the Falkertsee .

Summer tourism

For the summer, the Falkert offers a variety of hiking trails, two via ferratas (Falkensteig C / D , Murmelsteig B / C ) and climbing opportunities on the southern rock face or on the numerous boulders. A good opportunity is offered to tourists in the summer season to observe marmots, which live in a healthy population on the Falkert. In addition, the Heidi-Alm is ideal for young and old alike to slip into the fantasy world from the children's program “Heidi” and to enjoy the adventure park with over 100 figures from around the world.

The Salzsteigweg , an Austrian long-distance hiking trail from the Bohemian Forest to the Gail Valley , also runs over the Falkert .

Winter tourism

In winter there is the opportunity to use the Falkert ski area, which is an insider tip for freeriders, as its location above the tree line means it has wide, open slopes. In addition, the Falkert offers the opportunity to go on ski tours, use the cross-country ski trails, experience night skiing under floodlights and floodlit tobogganing on the 2000 m long toboggan run.
