He received a scholarship from the Carl Russ Foundation . In his youth, he was particularly influenced by the murder attack in Solingen in 1993, where five members of the Genç family , with whom Zingal is good friends, fell victim to the attack.

Zingal was a member of the SPD from 2001 to 2011 . During this time he held various functions within the party. Among other things, he was deputy chairman of the Jusos in Solingen. The decisive point that led to his resignation from the party was how the SPD dealt with Thilo Sarrazin . He was active in local politics in Solingen, u. a. At the end of 2004 he was elected deputy chairman of the Immigration and Integration Council of the City of Solingen and was a member of the Alliance for Tolerance and Civil Courage. Zingal gained notoriety through his appearances on TV programs in German-speaking countries (including Anne Will , Maybrit Illner , Hart aber fair , Rundschau (SRF) ). Immediately after the parliamentary elections in Turkey in 2015, he was appointed deputy chairman of the European headquarters of the UETD, the lobby organization of the Turkish ruling party AKP , and was the head of the political competence center. position

During the broadcast at Maybrit Illner on the Armenian Resolution 2016 of the Bundestag he took the position that can not decide politicians or parliaments, whether the events of 1915 in Anatolia , a genocide was but historians and lawyers. The term genocide is a legal term and this term presupposes a systematic intention to exterminate and it is precisely this question that must be examined by an impartial commission of historians.

Fatih Zingal also takes the position that behind the attempted coup on July 15, 2016 in Turkey, there was a parallel state structure that has been developing for years. As evidence of this, he listed, among other things, the confiscation of the book The Imam's Army by the investigative journalist Ahmet Şık , which was collected before the appearance by members of the Gülen movement who were state employees. The book was considered the most dangerous book in the country, as it revealed the parallel structures of the Gülen movement in the state.

After the verdict in the NSU trial , Fatih Zingal told the Huffington Post : “I believe the impression that everything has not been fully cleared up regarding backers, informers and institutional racism is what will be remembered from this trial becomes. That is exactly the main feeling that prevails in the German-Turkish community. "

After Mesut Özil's resignation from the German national team , Zingal reacted with solidarity with Özil and criticism of the DFB boss Reinhard Grindel and took the view that the “latent racism” in Germany had come to light through the Erdogan photo and the associated debate .

Position on the PKK

Fatih Zingal often criticizes the inaction and passivity of the German authorities towards the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its successor organizations. Above all, he condemns the annual Zilan women's festivals, which bear the name of the PKK suicide bomber Zeynep Kınacı .
