Since 1946 he has presented his works in numerous national and international exhibitions. In 1977 he designed the “Espacio Escultórico” room at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and became the coordinator of the artists who took part there, including Helen Escobedo , Manuel Felguérez and Mathias Goeritz . Silva was the first artist in the world to use a laser at a kinetic art event . In 2002 he showed his first digital art exhibition in the Centro Nacional de las Artes .

In 1961, Silva received an honorary entry in the painting's salon of honor, the “Primer Salón de Pintura”, of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL). Since 1969 he has been a guest of the French Ranchemont Society.
