Felipe , with full name Felipe Jorge Loureiro (born September 2, 1977 in Rio de Janeiro ), is a former Brazilian football player and current coach.

Athletic career

In the club

Felipe played in the youth team of CR Vasco da Gama from 1990 to 1997 . From 1997 the midfielder was part of the first team. In the same year Felipe Jorge Loureiro became Brazilian champion for the first time with Vasco da Gama. A season later followed by winning the Copa Libertadores . In 2001, Felipe was loaned to Palmeiras São Paulo for half a year and was loaned to Atlético Mineiro the rest of the year .

Felipe played 268 league games for Vasco da Gama and scored 22 goals. In the summer of 2002 he moved to the reigning Turkish champion Galatasaray Istanbul . In January 2003, Felipe asked to terminate his contract. Galatasaray accommodated this request and the Brazilian left Turkey . His new club was Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . With Flamengo Felipe won the city championship of Rio de Janeiro. 2005 moved to Fluminense Rio de Janeiro . He stayed there until the summer of 2005 and moved to al-Sadd Sport Club for a transfer fee of 2.5 million euros .

Felipe spent five years of his career in Qatar , where he was twice Qatari champion and won the Qatari Cup once. In the summer of 2010 he returned to his homeland and played again for Vasco da Gama. He ended his career with Fluminense in 2013.

In the national team

Felipe made his debut for the Brazilian national team on September 23, 1998 against Yugoslavia. In 2004 the midfielder was part of the Copa América squad. It was used twice in the competition. In the final against Argentina, he was substituted on for Alex in the 63rd minute of the game . The Seleção won 4-2 on penalties and became the winners of the competition.

Coaching career

Felipe was the head coach of EC Tigres do Brasil in 2017 .
