Felipe Molas López

Felipe Molas López (born July 10, 1901 in Yuty; † March 2, 1954 in Asunción ) was a Paraguayan politician who was President of Paraguay from February 27, 1949 to September 11, 1949. He was a member of the Colorado Party .

Life

From February 21, 1936 to October 1936, he was Mayor of Asunción. He was then Minister of Education under the presidents Juan Manuel Frutos , Juan Natalicio González and Raimundo Rolón .

He feared a military coup against President Rolón and organized, together with Epifanio Méndez Fleitas and Colonel Alfredo Stroessner, a coup to forestall the military . During his presidency all ministerial posts were occupied by civilians. He then took over the chairmanship of the Colorado Party. In September, however, the party leadership asked him to resign, and the leader of the Democratico wing, Federico Chavez, was installed as his successor.
