Felix Austria ( own spelling FELIX Austria ) is a well-known Austrian food producer.

history

In 1868 the company "Löw & Felix" was founded in Znojmo , a center of cucumber production .

Herbert Felix , a descendant of the founding family, was born in 1908 and grew up in the city of Znojmo. He worked in his father's canning factory, which exported cucumbers to various countries, including Sweden . In 1939 Herbert Felix fled to Sweden with his wife Kerstin and founded the company " AB Felix " there. In 1958 Felix returned to Austria at the request of his cousin Bruno Kreisky - former Austrian Foreign Minister and Federal Chancellor - and founded a sister company in Mattersburg , Burgenland.

The factory was built in 1960 according to the plans of the architect TG Nydrén from Malmö . The export amounted to about 37 million schillings in 1970, 35 of them to Sweden. Around 1970 the company began to produce large packs of canned and frozen goods especially for hotels.

Herbert Felix died in 1973 at the age of 64.

In 1995 FELIX Austria became part of Orkla ASA , a Scandinavian group of companies that in 2015 had around 15,000 employees and achieved sales of around 3.6 billion euros and is active in over 40 countries worldwide.

In 2015 the Steyr company Bioquelle was taken over. This expanded the product range to include muesli.
