Felix Dexter

Felix Dexter (born July 26, 1961 in St. Kitts , St. Kitts and Nevis , † October 18, 2013 in London , United Kingdom ) was a British actor , comedian and writer .

Life

Felix Dexter was born in St. Kitts , Caribbean , and moved to Surrey with his family when he was seven . He studied law at University College London and began training as a barrister before starting his career as a comedian. He began performing as a comedian at various evening events.

He later got a job on the BBC's sketch show The Real McCoy , which was initially based on a stage show that Dexter performed at the Hackney Empire Theater .

Dexter also had various acting appearances in the films Room to Rent (2000) and Jack Lennox - One Pulls the Strings (2003), as well as in an episode of the television series Empire (2005). Dexter also had a role on the BBC British sitcom Citizen Khan , playing the Muslim Omar who works on a mosque in Birmingham . Dexter starred in a total of 13 episodes of the series in 2012 and 2013.

Dexter also appeared on the UK radio station BBC Radio 4 on the satirical radio show Down the Line and starred in the production of Delete This At Your Peril , part of the radio game The Bob Servant Emails . In the BBC Two comedy television series Bellamy's People , a television spin-off from Down the Line , he appeared in 2010 in all episodes.

On October 18, 2013, Dexter died at the age of 52 from cancer of the bone marrow, multiple myeloma .

In honor of Dexter, BBC Two showed a 30-minute special about his life. In 2014, Dexter was posthumously awarded the Edric Connor Inspiration Award at the Screen Nation Awards .
