Felix Dirsch (* 1967 in Erding ) is a German Catholic theologian and political scientist .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1987, Dirsch studied Catholic theology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 1988 to 1995 and political science at the Munich School of Politics from 1992 to 1997 ; he completed both studies with a diploma. From 1993 to 1995 he received a scholarship from the Hanns Seidel Foundation and from 1994 to 1996 he was Hans Maier's research assistant at the chair for Christian philosophy, religious and cultural theory (Romano Guardini chair) at LMU Munich. From 1996 to 1998 Dirsch worked as a substitute teacher. In addition to working in school, he worked in adult education for a longer period of time. In 2006 he started with a thesis on solidarism and social ethics. Approaches to the reinterpretation of a modern trend in Catholic social philosophy from the Munich University of Philosophy .

Dirsch is the author of several books. He is a member of the OMCT-Tempelritterorden eV association and writes articles for its magazine. He writes primarily for new right media such as Criticón , Junge Freiheit , Götz Kubitschek's Secession , New Order and the Catholic Daily Mail. Among other things, he is the main author of the Catholic-conservative journal Die Neueordnung, published by the Institute for Social Sciences Walberberg eV . Dirsch was a speaker at student connections, such as the fraternity Germania Halle zu Mainz, the scientific connection Palladia, the Munich fraternity Danubia and the Aachen fraternity Alania. He also appears at events organized by the Institute for State Policy. In 2012/2013, 2014 and 2015 he was a lecturer at the Munich School of Politics . His lecture on "1968 - 50 Years Later" in June 2018 at the contemporary history research center in Ingolstadt met with criticism, but also found defenders. He is welcome as an interview partner in Catholic-faithful, but also in non-denominational conservative circles. Dirsch is, among other things, an expert on the subjects of "nation, Europe and Christianity", which is why he regularly takes a position on them. On the subject of "Occidental Thought", he often expressed himself, both in journalism and in the form of lectures.

Dirsch criticizes the influence of the 68 generation and the " political correctness ". In his more recent publications he advocates the thesis that the Christian faith should not only be connected with left-wing political ideas, but also (within certain limits) with right-wing (conservative and national) ideas. He criticizes a secular-humanitarian interpretation of Christianity that is distant from tradition, as it predominates in official church pronouncements. Citing Thomas Aquinas, he rejects mercy without reference to rational justice. In his publications he works out the differences between a homeland and popular Christianity and the globalist agenda, which he rejects. His works are received in different contexts, for example in reviews of his books.

Dirsch has participated in various contemporary political debates, including the controversy about a paper published in spring 2020 ("Veritas liberabit vos") by high-ranking Vatican dignitaries, the content of which he defends. But he has also contributed to numerous disputes about the valence of man-made influences in climate change. In doing so, he approaches climate-skeptical positions.
