Felix Krieger

Felix Krieger (born 1975 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German conductor.

Life

Krieger initially studied piano and music theory at the Freiburg University of Music as a young student , before completing his conducting studies with Klauspeter Seibel in Hamburg and Carlo Maria Giulini in Fiesole / Italy. He began his career in 2000 as Kapellmeister in Bielefeld and worked as assistant to Claudio Abbado at the Berlin Philharmonic and the Salzburg Festival and as assistant to Daniele Gatti at the Bayreuth Festival .

Krieger is a regular guest conductor at the Berlin State Opera and at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna . In addition, he conducted productions a. a. at the Deutsche Oper Berlin , the Opéra National de Paris , the Oslo Opera House , the Stuttgart State Opera , the Teatro Giuseppe Verdi Trieste and the Teatro Carlo Felice Genoa .

He conducted concerts a. a. with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra , the Bucharest Philharmonic , the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin , the Munich Radio Orchestra and the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra . In 2002 he accompanied leading musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra on their very first trip to China and conducted a joint concert with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra .

Felix Krieger is the founder of the Berlin opera group , whose artistic director he has been since 2010. With her he presents seldom heard Italian operas every year, semi-staged in the concert hall on Gendarmenmarkt .

Krieger is also committed to contemporary music. With the Camerata Aberta in São Paulo he regularly performs important works by contemporary European composers and has directed numerous South American premieres here (including works by Hans Werner Henze , Maurizio Kagel , Matthias Pintscher , Wolfgang Rihm )

He is the nephew of the musicologist Christoph Wolff and the philosopher Michael Wolff .
