Felix Zymalkowski

Felix Zymalkowski (born August 13, 1913 in Berlin-Grünau ; † August 17, 2004 in Bonn ) was a speedboat commander in World War II and professor of pharmaceutical chemistry .

Life

In April 1934, he joined the Imperial Navy ( Crew 1934 ) and in 1945 was head of the 8th speedboat from late 1942 to May flotilla . In addition to the Finnish IVth Class Freedom Cross , Zymalkowski received the German Cross in Gold on December 27, 1943 and the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on April 10, 1945 . His last rank in the Navy was that of a corvette captain .

Zymalkowski was a student of Karl Wilhelm Rosenmund in Kiel . In 1955 he received his habilitation . From 1959 to 1963 he was Karl Kindler's successor at the Institute for Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Hamburg . When he was called to Bonn in 1963, a number of his employees followed him, some of whom he had already brought with him from Kiel. Zymalkowski's successor was Gerhard Rücker from Münster in 1979.

In 1972 he became a member of the Leopoldina .
