Fenerbahçe Universal Bayan Voleybol Takımı (short: Fenerbahçe) is a Turkish volleyball club and represents the women's volleyball department of the Fenerbahçe SK sports club from Istanbul .

history

In 1928, the women's volleyball division of Fenerbahçe SK was founded for the first time and dissolved a year later due to a lack of opponents. In 1954 the women's volleyball department was re-established in cooperation with the Çamlıca Girls' High School (Çamlıca Kız Lisesi). This cooperation also included a women's basketball department. On August 24, 2011, Fenerbahçe SK announced that it would terminate the sponsorship and naming agreement with the hospital chain Acıbadem Sağlık Grubu . It is believed that the problematic relationship (during the 2011 suspicion of manipulation in football) between Fenerbahce SK and the chairman of the Acıbadem Sağlık Grubu, Mehmet Ali Aydınlar , who is also the Turkish Football Association President , led to the termination of the contract. On October 6, 2011 Fenerbahçe SK and the hospital chain Universal Hastaneler Grubu announced a cooperation, and announced a cooperation for 3 years. This cooperation also includes a renaming of the team to Fenerbahçe Universal Bayan Voleybol Takımı .
