Feng Bao 1st
Feng Bao 1 , short: FB-1 , ( Chinese 風暴 / 风暴 , Pinyin Fēngbào - "Storm 1", after the phrase 革命 风暴 or "Storm of the Revolution") was an early Chinese launcher. It was used between 1972 and 1981.
The development of Feng Bao began in autumn 1969 at the 2nd Shanghai Office for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (today Shanghai Academy for Space Technology ). At the same time, work was being carried out in Beijing at today's China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT) but also on the Langer Marsch 2 rocket , which was launched in 1974 and against which the FB-1 could not prevail.
construction
The FB-1 was a two-stage liquid fuel rocket on the basis of the ICBM DF-5 . It had a height of 33 m, a diameter of 3.35 m and a mass of 192 tons.

business
The first suborbital test flight took place on August 10, 1972. The payloads were reconnaissance satellites of the JSSW type , the last two launches were made with research and communication satellites of the Shi Jian type
All launches took place from the LA-2B launch site of the Jiuquan Cosmodrome .
