Life

Origin and family

Ferdinand Anton von Fürstenberg was the son of Ferdinand von Fürstenberg and his wife Maria Theresia von Westphalen zu Laer and thus came from the noble von Fürstenberg family , one of the oldest and most important in Westphalia . Numerous well-known personalities from church and state have emerged from the family line. One of the most important representatives of the family was the Prince-Bishop Ferdinand von Fürstenberg . Ferdinand Anton had eight brothers and seven sisters, many of whom, however, had early infant deaths. His brother Christian Franz (1689–1755) was a member of the Reichshofrat and Erbdroste , Wilhelm Franz (1684–1707), Hugo Franz (1692–1755), Friedrich Christian (1700–1742), Franz Egon (1702–1761) and Friedrich ( 1685–1706) were canons in Münster and Paderborn.

Act

On 16 August 1690 he received from Turnar the Münstersche Dompräbende the late Domkantors of Letmathe. The revolt to the families Fürstenberg, Westphalen and Breitbach fell on September 5, 1690. From 1700 to 1703 Ferdinand Anton studied in Würzburg and then in Prague and Siena . He was very pious and therefore wanted to be ordained a priest . On June 21, 1706 he received a subdiaconate and was ordained a priest on February 9, 1711. Because of his poor health , he renounced the prebend in Münster in 1706 in favor of his brother Christian Franz. He renounced the Paderborn cathedral praise, which was awarded to him in 1703, in favor of Benedikt Wilhelm von Droste zu Erwitte.
