Ferdinand Brunner (born May 1, 1870 in Vienna ; † November 30, 1945 there ) was an Austrian landscape painter .

Life

Ferdinand Brunner was born in Vienna on May 1, 1870 and entered the studio of the court theater painters Carlo Brioschi , Hermann Burghart and Johann Kautsky at the age of 14 . From 1891 he studied at the Vienna Academy in the master class of Eduard von Lichtenfels . In 1894 he was awarded the Gundel Prize . In 1901 he became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus . He exhibited at the international art exhibitions in 1904 and 1907 in Düsseldorf , and later also in the Munich Glass Palace . Ferdinand Brunner died on November 30, 1945 in Vienna.

Brunner's preferred motifs were landscapes in Upper and Lower Austria , Bohemia and Hungary , whereby he placed particular emphasis on capturing moods. In 1910 he was awarded the Great Golden State Medal, in 1935 he received the Gustav Figdor Prize. His works can now be found in the Vienna Museum on Karlsplatz, in the Lower Austrian State Museum and in the picture gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.
