Ferdinand May (physician)

Ferdinand May (born January 12, 1898 in Munich ; † July 24, 1978 ibid) was a German urologist and university professor .

Life

Ferdinand May, son of the doctor Dr. med. Ferdinand May and the senior Maria born Kaulbach, turned to the High School to study medicine at the Universities of Freiburg and Munich to 1922 he passed the medical state examination, the following year he was appointed Dr. med. PhD .

After Ferdinand May had worked at the surgical hospital in Munich-Schwabing for eight years , he settled down as a freelance urologist in 1931, and in 1938 he switched to the position of chief physician at the Munich Urological Hospital. In addition , he completed his habilitation in 1950 as a private lecturer in urology at the LMU Munich, where he was promoted to extraordinary professor in 1956 , to associate professor in 1958, and in 1966 he retired . May, member of the German Society for Urology and the International Society for Urology, dealt in particular with prostate diseases and with the development of new instruments.

Ferdinand May was married to Elisabeth, born in 1960, with whom he had a son. The recipient of the Bavarian Order of Merit in 1965 died in 1978 at the age of 81.
