Ferdinand Piloty

Ferdinand Piloty (the elder) (born August 28, 1786 in Homburg , † January 8, 1844 in Munich ) was a German lithographer .
Life
Ferdinand Piloty lived in Munich, where from 1808 to 1815 he and Johann Nepomuk Strixner (1782–1855) published a series of 432 lithographs based on drawings by old masters , in 1815 a lithographic work from the galleries in Munich and Schleissheim , and later from the Leuchtenbergschen Gallery. From 1836 he worked in conjunction with Joseph Löhle on a new gallery work from the Alte Pinakothek , which his son Carl Theodor von Piloty continued.
Ferdinand Pilot (the elder) was the father of the painters Carl Theodor von Piloty and Ferdinand von Piloty (the younger). He died in Munich in 1844. The grave of Ferdinand Piloty d. Ä. is located on the old southern cemetery in Munich (grave field 13 - row 2 - place 1) location . His son Ferdinand von Piloty the Younger lies in the same grave.
