Ferdinand from the Fünten
Ferdinand Hugo from the Fünten (* 17th December 1909 in Mülheim an der Ruhr , † 19th April 1989 in Duisburg ) was during the Second World War with the rank of SS-Hauptsturmführer Head of the Central Office for Jewish Emigration in Amsterdam . He was jointly responsible for the deportation of Jews from the Netherlands to the German concentration and extermination camps .
Life
Fünten initially worked in the Jewish Department of the Reich Security Main Office (RSHA) headed by Adolf Eichmann . After the Netherlands was occupied by German troops, he became head of the Central Office for Jewish Emigration in Amsterdam . In this function he was under the command of the Security Police and the SD (BdS) in The Hague. As head of the central office, he organized the registration and arrest of Dutch Jews . These were taken to the Westerbork transit camp , deported to the extermination camps in annexed Poland and murdered there. Among the deportees were physically and mentally ill Jews from Amsterdam and the Het Apeldoornsche Bosch clinic . He threatened deportation to Jews who were “ mixed marriages ” with non-Jews in order to force them to be sterilized . In the SS in 1941 he held the rank of SS-Hauptsturmführer .
After the end of the war, Fünten was sentenced to death on July 12, 1950 by the Special Court of Cassation of the Netherlands (crime complex: "Other crimes of mass destruction"). The death penalty was commuted to life imprisonment on January 4, 1951 . From the Fünten was in Breda with Willy Lages , Joseph Kotälla and Franz Fischer as one of the Four of Breda detained. Lages was released in 1966 because of serious illness, Kotälla died in prison. Fünten and Fischer were released from custody on January 27, 1989 and deported to Germany. Fünten died shortly after his release on April 19, 1989.
