Festival de Wallonie
The Festival de Wallonie is an annual music festival consisting of seven different individual festivals in the French-speaking region of Belgium ( Wallonia ) and in Brussels . Works by composers of Walloon origin, such as those by Dumont, Grétry , Gossec , Franck , Eugène Ysaÿe and others, are often played at these festivals .
Festival de Wallonie is a member organization of the European Festivals Association .
The individual regional festivals
- Central, in the Center Flagey Brussels
- Festival de Namur , mainly early music
- Royal Juillet Musical de Saint-Hubert
- Festival de Stavelot , mostly classical
- Festival du Brabant Wallon , classical and early music
- “Les Nuits de Septembre” in Liège , early music and, since 2010, contemporary music
- Wallonie-Hainaut festival , classical and early music
The “Automne Musical de Spa” festival, which specializes in historical performance practice, is not part of the organization of the Festival de Wallonie, despite various attempts at agreement.
A parallel event is the Festival van Vlaanderen , which has a similar structure and consists of eight individual festivals and takes place in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium.
