Pichlern branch church
The Roman Catholic branch church Pichlern in the community of Himmelberg is consecrated to the apostles Philippus and Jakobus minor . The church, first mentioned in a document in 1451, is a branch church of the Himmelberg parish .
Building description
The church is a late Gothic building with a retracted, polygonal choir, a north-facing sacristy extension , a wooden porch and a wooden roof turret . The windows were renewed in the second half of the 20th century.
Inside, a pointed triumphal arch connects the flat-roofed nave and the three-bay choir with a three-eighth end. A pointed barrel with stab caps rises above the choir . The wooden west gallery stands on a wooden baluster column.
Furnishing
The high altar is a late Gothic winged altar that was probably made in the Villach workshop before 1519 . The paintings are by Urban Görtschacher . The shrine contains the figures of the two church saints. The plague saints Sebastian and Rochus are depicted on the painted inner wings . Saints Martin and Chrysanthus can be seen on the outside of the movable wings, and Saints Nicholas , Georg , Leonhard and Florian on the inactive wings . The predella is painted with the busts of the Madonna and Saints Catherine and Barbara . On the back is the handkerchief of Veronica again. In conversation narrow the carved figure of is pain man .
The left side altar with the image of the apostle Bartholomäus is marked 1854. The right baroque side altar bears a group of figures of the Holy Trinity . The pulpit was built in the second quarter of the 17th century.
Bells
Two bells to be rung by hand hang in the small square roof turret . The small bell with the inscription “Ambros Basler 1567” is a bronze bell with a diameter of 30 cm and a weight of 35 kg. The larger bell with the inscription "Lorenz Pez in Clagenfurt gos mich anno 1665" is a bronze bell with a diameter of 45 cm and a weight of approx. 60 kg.
