The branch church Rinkolach in Rinkolach / Rinkole in the Bleiburg community is consecrated to St. Oswald and belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of St. Michael ob Bleiburg.

Building description

The church is a small, essentially Romanesque building with a retracted Gothic choir, built around 1400 , which is supported by two-tiered buttresses . The mighty Romanesque tower, which is attached to the nave to the south and which dates from the 13th or 14th century, has biforic windows in the bell storey and is crowned by a shingle-roofed pointed gable helmet.

The Romanesque nave is vaulted by a flat wooden barrel from 1549. A round triumphal arch connects the nave with the single-bay, cross-ribbed, Gothic choir with a five-eighth end .

Murals

The wall paintings in the choir date from the first quarter of the 15th century. On the north wall of the choir you can see the procession of the Three Kings and the adoration of the baby Jesus, which was largely destroyed by the installation of the neo-Gothic windows in the 19th century. Saints are depicted on the side of the choir window. The fresco in the vault shows the Majestas Domini , surrounded by evangelist symbols and angels. The round medallions of the apostles under the windows are attributed to the master von Einersdorf . There are ornamental strips in the triumphal arch, and a coronation of Mary painted around 1900 can be seen on the vaulted ceiling of the nave . Saints Cyril and Method above the triumphal arch also date from the same period .

Facility

The late baroque high altar from 1772 hides a radiant Madonna in the central niche, flanked by the evangelist Mark and St. Oswald. The plague saints Sebastian and Rochus stand on pedestals to the side . In the essay the Holy Spirit and God the Father are represented figuratively.

The two early Baroque side altars, made around 1660/1670, consist of a simple aedicule with a split- segment gable and a small attachment. The baptism of Jesus is depicted on the altar panel of the left altar and Salome with the head of John in the top picture. The right altar shows the Assumption of Mary in the main picture and the Holy Family in the upper picture .
