The Zitz branch church is located in the municipality of Bludesch im Walgau in Vorarlberg . The Roman Catholic branch church of St. Nikolaus belongs to the dean's office Walgau-Walsertal in the diocese of Feldkirch . The church is a listed building .

history

Cise was mentioned in a document around 842 . In 1483 a chaplaincy was reported.

The Romanesque church building with rectangular windows has a wide nave and a recessed, almost square baroque choir under a shared saddle roof .

The north tower in the choir corner with coupled and simple sound openings above it has a protruding gable cornice and a bricked gable spire with button-like pinnacles . To the south in the corner of the choir there is a sacristy extension under a pent roof from 1629. A former round apse was found in the choir through an excavation .

The interior of the church in the nave has a new wooden barrel , formerly from 1629, a drawn-in, chamfered, round-arched choir arch and a drawn-in single-bay choir with a groined vault . In the choir there is a staircase to the tower on the left and an entrance to the sacristy on the right. The sacristy as a low groin vaulted rectangular room has rectangular windows, a flat arch niche and a round arch niche. The west wall of the nave has a circular window.

The church shows frescoes from around 1330. On the west wall Last Judgment , Christ with Mary and John, procession of the blessed with Peter at the heavenly gate, resurrection and Noli me tangere and three image strips above train of the vices, in the middle train of the damned, below dance of a devil around a kettle.

On the north wall in strips of images above Annunciation , Flight into Egypt , destroyed below. On the south wall in picture strips, above scene fragment with sarcophagus , king, bearded man, two entwined women, below Descent from the cross , entombment , flagellation, crowning of thorns , erection of the cross. In the choir on the left, Johannes Evangelist , Lamb of God and fragment of a saint in painted arched arcades .

Furnishing

The high altar shows an inscription with the Deuring coat of arms in the base. The structure has fluted columns and fruit appliqués and scrolls on the sides and carries a straight, closed entablature with volute pieces. The altarpiece Mary with Child with Saints and the upper image God the Father are marked 1631.

The left side altar with 1634 in the base inscription shows the protective mantle Madonna with Dominikus and Katharina von Siena from 1634 in the altar picture. The right side altar, on the top with 1634 and coat of arms von der Halden shows Katharina and Agatha from 1634 in the altar picture and IHS in the upper picture. Above the choir arch is a crucifixion group on heraldic pedestals on an entablature, which is connected to the side altars with two angels.

There is a 13th century bell.
