action

Police officer Shane Newman fails to hunt down a drug dealer in Los Angeles . Thereupon his boss Hugh Janus transfers him to Hawaii . Some former students are gathering there in a luxury hotel. The young women belonged to the student fraternity “Omega Kappa Omega” and are now invited to an erotic photo shoot organized by Derek Simmons, editor of “Cavalier Magazine”. Shortly after arriving, Terri Walker, one of the ex-students, is strangled in the pool while her friend William Culp, who was traveling with them, was absent for a few minutes. Detective Newman starts the investigation with his new colleague Julie Seska and coroner Ferguson. Next to Terri's body they find a document that looks like a diploma and says “Failed”. William advises them to watch Derek Simmons particularly closely.

The next night the next student dies. Amanda Calvin is lured outside to the pool by a phone call and falls victim to the unknown murderer. The police later discover William in the hotel room of Megan Davidson, who is also a student. You have just had sex and are now being interrogated. Gradually, the investigators learn the background of the series of murders. Five years ago, Rachel Kincaid committed suicide by falling off a bridge in a car. At the time, she was the favorite in the election as spokesperson for the fraternity, but was bullied and driven to her death by her competitor Kristen Neal, who is now also present in Hawaii .

After Newman and Seska have clarified these connections, William wants to tell them something else. But before Newman comes to him, the young man is killed by the killer and can only hint that there is a problem with Rachel. Newman contacts his colleague Rita in Los Angeles, who had already got the files on Rachel, and asks her about Simmons. Rita finds out that the editor of the magazine is actually called James Derek Kincaid and is Rachel's brother. He gathered the students at the hotel to take revenge for his sister's death.

Megan and Kristen, the only one of the invited students still alive, meet in the hotel room. It's the fifth anniversary of Rachel's suicide. Kristen suspects Megan and threatens her with a gun. When the light goes out, she sends Megan into the hallway, where they meet the killer. Kristen is able to drive the perpetrator away for the time being, but then accidentally shoots Seska. Newman arrives just in time to catch the returned killer. It's actually Simmons aka Kincaid.

However, based on a photo, the detective realizes that the case is not over. Having recently been intimate with photographer Taylor Cameron, he recognizes her necklace. She is a sister of Rachel and Derek. Now she brings Kristen into her power and threatens to strangle her. When Newman intervenes, she escapes onto a rock above the pool. She stabs a knife in the upper body and falls into the water. The policeman is about to report another body when she attacks him. Newman shoots Taylor in self-defense .

Meanwhile, his colleagues in Los Angeles capture Professor Andrews, who was not only Rachel's student advisor, but also impregnated his student before she died. Upon arrival at the station, it turns out that the police officer Sam is another brother of Rachel. He shoots the professor.

Reviews

The lexicon of international films describes Final Examination as a “cheap thriller with a few horror elements, the striking story of which is repeatedly interrupted by a jolted amount of meat inspection.” The critic of film.de was of the opinion that “friends of the profession also without special Fine tuning get their money's worth ". The DVD Verdict reviewer said that the director failed to take advantage of his options: “Final Examination fails to exploit his timid physical constructs and wastes the skin, sin and splatter on numerous scenes of boring performance and fool's-cap logic of the detectives . "(" Final Examination fails to capitalize on its craven corporeal constructs and squanders the skin, the sin, and the slice and dice for numerous scenes of boring exposition and dunce cap detective logic. ") The review by campblood.org says that the film is “a treasure trove of bizarre and unexplained detail”.
