geography
Finkenau is about three kilometers south of Coburg west of the Itz . Communal roads lead to Triebsdorf , Ahorn and Creidlitz . The federal highway 303 runs north of Finkenau .
history
The first documentary mention was on April 4, 1418, when Hans Mullner wanted to lease the "Vinckenmul". In 1451 the abbot of the Saalfeld monastery enfeoffed the Lords of Rosenau with Finkenau, which was expanded into a manor with a manor house. From 1485 the place was part of the Electorate of Saxony , from which the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg later emerged. In 1507 the Lords of Rosenau sold the mill and in 1609 Wilhelm von Streitberg bought the manor. In 1612 Duke Johann Casimir declared the property an allod , the free property of the Streitbergers. During the Thirty Years War Finkenau was destroyed by imperial troops in 1634.
In the middle of the 19th century, Finkenau consisted of two independent communities, the manor and the village itself. On July 1, 1869, both communities were incorporated into Ahorn.
In 1925 Finkenau had 43 residents and 8 residential buildings. In 1987 the village had 42 inhabitants, 15 houses and 20 apartments. Finkenau belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Ahorn.
