Fischhausen is the name of a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Wangerland in the district of Friesland .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 095 is around 18 hectares in size. It has been under nature protection since April 12, 1980 and replaces the natural monument "Heron Colony in Fischhausen" , which was designated in 1936 . The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Friesland.
The nature reserve is located northwest of Wilhelmshaven . It includes the grounds of Fischhausen Castle with its park and adjacent agricultural areas. The nature reserve serves to protect a resident gray heron colony that has existed since at least 1856.
