The Flügelsbach is an approximately 11 km long tributary of the Rhine in Rheinhessen .

The Flügelsbach rises northeast of Zornheim am Kloppberg and initially flows in an easterly direction past Harxheim , then turns south and flows around Mommenheim . Southeast of Mommenheim it takes its longest tributary, the Kinsbach (also called Zornheimer Graben ), which rises in a contained spring in the center of Zornheim. It then flows through a narrow valley to Schwabsburg , where it takes in the Brünnchen, the next largest tributary after the Kinsbach . The Brünnchen is formed by the Engelklauer Graben ( Diebsklauer Graben ) (source: Zumbelborn ) and the Langen Graben (source: Kupferbrunnen ). The brook flows through Schwabsburg in a tight S-curve and also passes the town center (“Weedplatz”). Between Schwabsburg and Nierstein it takes up the Riedgraben from the right (source: Dalheimer Brünnchen ).

In the local area of Nierstein, measures for flood protection are planned (status: March 2007), since a threatening swelling of the brook can regularly be observed in heavy rain in the Rhine-Hessian hill country . Even flood catches above Schwabsburg have so far not been able to change anything significantly. In Nierstein the brook flows into the Rhine.

The Flügelsbach has a catchment area of 38.5 km². When it rains, the stream is colored strongly red by tributaries from the Dom valley and the rear " Red Slope " of Nierstein. This color can also be clearly seen from the air in the area where it flows into the Rhine.
