Description and meaning
The flag of Asturias is a blue flag cloth, the color of which represents the Virgin Mary . In the leech rests a Latin four-leaf clover with the Greek letters alpha and omega hanging on the beam as symbols for the beginning and the end. The so-called Cross of Victory is an ancient Asturian symbol. Its jeweled original is in the cathedral of Oviedo , the capital of Asturias.
The center of the cross is a third of the flag length from the mast and from the lower edge of the flag. The cross is 4/9 the length of the flag.
