history

Settlement remains and finds indicate an early settlement in the Latène period . Flammersbach was first mentioned in writing on June 3, 1311, when a "Wilpert von Flamersbach" was named in a document. Until the local reorganization and admission to the municipality of Wilnsdorf on January 1, 1969, the previously independent town was part of the Netphen district.

At the church level, both denominations have belonged to the parish of Netphen since the Middle Ages. At the request of Flammersbach Presbyter Jakob Kunz, on April 1, 1908, the evangelical parishioners who were predominantly present in the village were re-pared to the parish of Rödgen (today: Rödgen-Wilnsdorf); the Catholic Christians were assigned to the parish of Rudersdorf on October 7, 1916. In several documents between 1630 and 1800 a chapel located in the village is called "Santa Lucia Apostoli".

In 1635 the plague claimed 21 deaths among the 89 inhabitants; In 1732 the spelling of the place name, which is still valid today, was decreed; In 1827 a chapel school was built in the “Unterdorf”; a cemetery for Protestant Christians was set up in the village for the first time and the usual burials in the cemetery in Netphen were discontinued; In 1870 the Weißtalstraße between Niederdielfen and Rudersdorf was completed; In 1896 a land consolidation (separation) was carried out in Flammersbach (as the second place in the Siegen district) - the previously small parcels in the field were combined to form large plots; In 1902 a new school (today: community center) was inaugurated; from 1903 to 1910 ore was mined in the "Transvaal" mine; In 1912 the water pipeline was built; In 1923 the installation of the electricity network was completed; On February 1, 1945, Flammersbach was half destroyed by a bombing raid by the British Royal Air Force - without any fatalities; reconstruction took place in the post-war years; In 2011 Flammersbach celebrated its 700th anniversary for three days, including a pageant.
