Obersdorf is a district of the municipality of Wilnsdorf in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Obersdorf is located in the Siegerland in a very wooded region in the Rothaar Mountains . The highest elevation in the local area is the Homberg at 451.4  m above sea level. NN . In the south is the Dillberg at 405.9  m above sea level. NN . Obersdorf has an area of ​​4.32 km².

Rödgen is part of Obersdorf and is located on federal highway 54 , northeast of the old Obersdorf town center. Over time, the two formerly independent settlements have grown together.

The place Rödgen was mentioned for the first time on March 4, 1328. The document speaks of a pastor for "Rode". This had its own parish since 1400.

In 1417 Obersdorf itself was first mentioned in a document under the name "Operstorff". In 1467 a plague epidemic was mentioned, under which many Obersdorfers probably lost their lives. In 1773 115 people lived in Obersdorf, and 36 in Rödgen, which was still separated. In 1782 the Evangelical Church was built in Rödgen, the Catholic Church shared its steeple with the Evangelical Church and was consecrated in 1788. In 1816 Obersdorf became Prussian.

In 1872 the first Protestant school was built in the village. In 1906 the volunteer fire brigade was founded, and on November 14, 1921 the town received electricity . In 1967 the place celebrates its 550th anniversary.

On January 1, 1969, the Wilnsdorf office was dissolved and the previously independent municipality of Obersdorf was incorporated into the new large municipality of Wilnsdorf as part of the municipal reorganization .

In 2007/2008, the entire Obersdorf town through was renovated. A new residential area was also developed.

Attractions
