action

Cynthia Glenn lives in Los Angeles with her aunt Nona and her uncle Hobart. She works as a swimming instructor in a city pool. There she met the businessman Robert G. Delbar, who fell in love with her. In the following years he vigorously wooed the attractive young woman. She finally consents to the marriage.

The young couple is spending their honeymoon in a health resort in the mountains. But after only a short time, the shops demand that Robert leave again. Cynthia is left alone. She befriends Nils Knudsen. The star of the Metropolitan Opera is staying in the spa to lose weight with a strict diet. However, this is extremely difficult for the likeable man. But under the strict supervision of the hotel manager Sarah Fenway, he can barely get anywhere to eat. Cynthia also makes the acquaintance of Major Thomas Milvaine, returning from war. She gives him swimming lessons and he entertains her with war stories. Together they go hiking in the mountains. Meanwhile, Nils Knudsen continues to struggle with his diet. Hotel guests want to enjoy the singer's singing skills. However, he refuses to play Tommy Dorsey's orchestra until he is finally served a steak. With his grief, Nils finds a hearing with Cynthia, who in turn tells him about her love for Thomas Milvaine.

As husband Robert's return approaches, Maude Bancroft, the daughter of Robert's business friend, arranges for his stay away from his honeymoon to be a little longer. Cynthia now goes on a hike alone to think about her life situation. However, Thomas follows her. As night falls, they find that they are lost. You spend the night in the forest and in the morning decide to find your way back to the hotel. Meanwhile, Robert returns to find Cynthia's bed unused. His jealousy grows when Cynthia finally returns to the hotel with Thomas. The couple get into an argument about it and Cynthia confesses her love for Thomas. After they both agree to annul their marriage, Cynthia returns to Aunt Nona and Uncle Hobart's home in Los Angeles. Nils takes care of the desperate Thomas and arranges a serenade for Cynthia's house. With this serenade Thomas can finally win the heart of Cynthia.

Reviews

"The thin plot is only spiced up by the well-known water acrobatics by Esther Williams and a few swinging melodies from the Tommy Dorsey orchestra."
