Richard Edward Connell, Jr. (born October 17, 1893 in Dutchess County , New York , † November 22, 1949 in Beverly Hills , Los Angeles , California ) was an American journalist and writer of short stories and screenplays , each one time was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Story as well as a Writers Guild of America Award (WGA Award) for Best Screenplay. His 1924 published short story The Most Dangerous Game ( The cruelest game ) is one of the most frequently in anthologies published short stories and was filmed several times.
Life
Connell began working for his father's daily newspaper at the age of ten and wrote about baseball games for them before he became editor of this newspaper in 1909 at the age of sixteen . After doing his military service in the US Army during the First World War , he lived for several years in various countries in Europe . After returning to the US in the mid-1920s, he began writing short stories such as Tropic of Capricorn , A Little Bit of Broadway , Isles of Romance , One Hundred Dollars , A Friend of Napoleon, and If I Was Alone with You .
Great fame he achieved by its 1924 published short story The cruelest game ( The Most Dangerous Game ), which is one of the most widely published in anthologies short stories, and was filmed several times, such as Count Zaroff - genius of evil (The Most Dangerous Game, 1932), which Ernest B.
