Robert Presnell Sr.
Robert R. Presnell Sr. (born April 29, 1894 in Lake View , Iowa , † February 12, 1969 in Burbank , Los Angeles County , California ) was an American screenwriter and film producer who won an Oscar for best Original story was nominated.
Life
Presnell, who wrote the two stage works Rust and Saturday Night , both published in 1924 , began his career in the Hollywood film industry in 1930 as a screenwriter for the romantic musical comedy Young Man of Manhattan by Monta Bell with Claudette Colbert , Norman Foster and Ginger Rogers . In 1931 he produced the romantic drama Leftover Ladies , directed by Erle C. Kenton and for which he also wrote the screenplay, his first film in which Claudia Dell , Marjorie Rambeau and Walter Byron played the leading roles. Until 1963 he wrote the scripts and templates for nearly forty films and television series and was also the producer of twenty other films until 1953.
At the 1942 Academy Awards , Presnell and Richard Connell were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Story for the feature film Here Is John Doe (Meet John Doe, 1941) by Frank Capra with Gary Cooper , Barbara Stanwyck and Edward Arnold .
