Florian Holzherr

Florian Holzherr (* 1970 in Munich ) is a German photographer . His focus is on international architectural photography, art documentation and portraits.

From 1996 to 1999 Florian Holzherr studied at the State Academy for Photo Design in Munich.

Holzherr has been documenting exhibitions, installations and individual works by internationally recognized artists with photographs since 1996. Holzherr works u. a. for Chris Burden , Ólafur Elíasson , Dan Graham , Caro Jost , Donald Judd , Ilja Kabakow , Mike Kelly, Matthew Schreiber, Keith Sonnier , Dietmar Tanterl and James Turrell . Since 1999 he has been involved in the extensive documentation of James Turrell's works. In direct collaboration with Turrell, Holzherr photographs his room and light installations around the world, including the exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg 2009–2010, the Gagosian Gallery exhibition, London 2010, Roden Crater , James Turrell Museum, Center for International Light Art, Unna.

As an architecture photographer, Florian Holzherr is one of his clients a. a. KUB-Kunsthaus Bregenz , Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum , Skidmore, Owings and Merrill , Dominikus Stark , Allmann Sattler Wappner , Los Angeles County Museum of Art , Donald Judd Foundation, Dia Art Foundation , Serpentine Gallery , Dan Flavin - The Dan Flavin Studio and Dornier Museum , House of Art , Munich. He is one of the top ten German architecture photographers.

Holzherr has also been active in academic teaching since 2000, including a. at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich (2002), Augsburg University of Applied Sciences (2003), Potsdam University of Applied Sciences (2005), Kaiserslautern University (2004), Graduate School of Design, Harvard (2004).
