Florian Schaffenrath

Florian Schaffenrath (born May 25, 1978 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian classical philologist .

Life

He grew up in Axams . After graduating from the Akademisches Gymnasium Innsbruck with distinction in 1996 , he studied classical philology at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , the University of Innsbruck and the University of Siena from the winter semester 1996/1997 to the winter semester 2004/05. He received his doctorate sub auspiciis praesidentis in June 2005 . From 2002 to 2009 he was research assistant at the Latin Studies department of the Institute for Languages ​​and Literatures (project History of Latin Literature in Tyrol ). He represented University Assistant Wolfgang Kofler from winter semester 2005/06 to summer semester 2006. He conducted research at the Austrian Historical Institute in Rome from winter semester 2006/07 to summer semester 2007. From 2010 to 2014 he was assistant professor for classical philology. After his habilitation in August 2014, he was awarded the license to teach classical philology and neo-Latin . Since September 2014 he has been director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Neo-Latin Studies . Since October 2014 he has been an associate professor at the University of Innsbruck.

His research areas are neo-Latin epic, neo-Latin literature of Tyrol, Marco Polo and Cicero's Philippine speeches .

Since 2004 he has been a member of the Catholic student association AV Austria Innsbruck . He later became a member of the KAV Capitolina Rome .
