Florin Andone (born April 11, 1993 in Botoșani ) is a Romanian national football player . The striker plays for the Romanian national team and has been under contract with Brighton & Hove Albion since summer 2018 . Andone was awarded to Galatasaray Istanbul for the 2019/20 season.

Career

society

Andone started playing football at his hometown club CSŞ Botoşani when he was ten. When his father died in a car accident in 2005, he moved to live with his mother in Vinaròs in Spain . There he joined the lower class Vinaròs CF. In 2008 he moved to the neighboring city to the second division CD Castellón , for whom he played four second division games at the age of 18. In 2011 he moved to the neighboring first division club Villarreal , where he initially played for the A-Juniors and the B-Team. For the 2013/14 season he was loaned to third division Atlético Baleares , where he scored twelve goals in 34 league games. In 2014 he then moved south to FC Córdoba , but initially only played in the B team in the third division. From January 2015 he played in the first team in the first division . He scored five goals in 20 games and thus almost a quarter of all goals of the team during the entire season, which was then relegated to the second division last . There he made 21 goals - more than a third of the team's goals and second-best goalscorer in the league - in 34 games, making Córdoba fifth in the promotion play-offs, which will take place in June 2016.

National team

Andone took part with the Romanian U-19 team in May 2012 in the second qualifying round for the U-19 European Football Championship 2012 and was used in the games against Serbia and Germany , behind which the Romanians took third place and eliminated.

In March 2015 he was invited to the senior national team for the first time, but only sat on the bench in the European Championship qualifier against the Faroe Islands . On June 13, 2015, he came on for his first appearance for the Romanian national football team in the goalless draw in qualifying for the Euro 2016 against Northern Ireland when he was substituted on in the 72nd minute. He was then nominated for the other games, but was only used in two of the last four qualifying games with which the Romanians qualified for the European Championship finals. On November 17, 2015, he scored his first international goal in the friendly against Italy , making it 2-2 in the penultimate minute of the game.

On May 12, 2016 he was nominated for the provisional EM squad with 28 players and then also considered for the final squad. He was also used in the opening game of the European Championship against hosts France, which was lost 2-1, but was replaced after a good hour. He then only played as a substitute against Switzerland and Albania. The team then dropped out as fourth in the group.

In the qualification for the 2018 World Cup , which began after the European Championship , he was part of the team and was used in eight of the ten games. As fourth in the group, the Romanians missed the World Cup finals. He was not used in the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League due to injury. In qualifying for the 2020 European Football Championship , it was only used again in the four games in September and October 2019. Due to a knee injury, he could not take part in the last two group games that were lost, which meant that the direct qualification as group fourth was missed. As second in their Nations League group, they still have the chance to qualify via the playoffs in March 2020.
