The Maun Airport ( english Maun Airport ) is the international passenger airport of Maun in Botswana and is considered the gateway to the Okavango Delta . It is located about five kilometers east of the city.
Most of the flights are operated by small planes and charter airlines that mainly bring tourists and provisions to the delta. Maun Airport is the busiest airport in Botswana in terms of flight movements and the second largest in terms of the number of passengers handled after Gaborone Airport . According to the state operator, the airport is one of the busiest in southern Africa . In 2008 there were 42,708 aircraft movements with 201,010 passengers.
Infrastructure
In addition to a passenger terminal, the airport also has a small cargo terminal. The airport also has a shopping center (one kilometer to the east), office buildings and restaurants. Car rental companies and customs are available at the airport, as is an exchange office .
Airlines and connections
Air Botswana flies on scheduled flights to Kasane and Gaborone inland and to Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa . Air Namibia connects the airport with Hosea Kutako International Airport near Windhoek in Namibia .
In addition, numerous charter airlines operate at the airport.
