The Ostend-Bruges International Airport ( Dutch International Luchthaven Oostende-Brugge ) is the airport of the Belgian port city of Ostend , the city center is five kilometers away. The city of Bruges , which is approximately 25 kilometers from the airport, is also served.
Location and transport links
Ostend-Bruges Airport can be reached by car via the A10 and A187 / E40.
From the Ostend train station , the airport can be reached with the De Lijn city bus 6 in the direction of Raversijde.
history
During the Second World War , the German occupation forces moved the Ostend airfield from Stene to an area near Middelkerke . During the Battle of Britain it was an important base of the Air Force .
After the end of the war, the Raversijde-Middelkerke airfield was converted into an international airport, which has belonged to the Flanders region since 1992 and has had its current name since 2003.
The airport operator license was granted to LEM (Luchthaven Exploitatie Maatschappij) Oostend-Brugge , a subsidiary of the French infrastructure company Egis , on July 19, 2013 for twenty-five years .
