Queenstown Airport on October 20, 2007

The Queenstown Airport ( IATA code : ZQN, ICAO code : NZQN) is an international airport in the South Island of New Zealand . It is located in Frankton , Otago , about ten kilometers northeast of downtown Queenstown . The airport is located on an arm of Lake Wakatipu called the Frankton Arm . In terms of the number of travelers, it is the fourth largest airport in New Zealand as of 2012.

The airport is owned by Queenstown Lakes District Council and operated by Queenstown Airport Corporation Ltd.

The airport opened in August 1935. In 2007, the area of ​​the terminal was increased threefold with renovation measures.

Airlines and Destinations

Queenstown Airport is used by the airlines Air New Zealand , Jetstar Airways , Qantas Airways and Virgin Australia Airlines .

The Australian cities of Brisbane , Melbourne and Sydney have been served as international destinations since the mid-1990s , but the first two are only seasonal.
