The airport Redmond , as Roberts Field is known, an airport in the state of Oregon in the United States . Located in Central Oregon , it primarily supplies Deschutes , Crook and Jefferson Counties .
history
The airport, which is near the city of Redmond, Oregon , was built in the 1920s. From 1940 the first scheduled flights by Oregon Airways took place here. The US used the airport as a base for bomber planes during World War II. After the war ended, the airport was sold by the United States to the city of Redmond in 1946 for the symbolic price of $ 1.
In the years that followed, the airport was converted into a civil airport. This was followed by the opening of a passenger terminal in 1950, whereupon United Airlines added Redmond to its flight plan. The terminal was only replaced by a new building in 1981, which is still in operation today after numerous renovations and extensions.
Today the airport, which has been in the hands of the city of Redmond since it was sold in 1946, is served by a number of airlines that connect it to various destinations in the USA.
