The Eugene Airport ( IATA code : EUG , ICAO code : KEUG ; also Mahlon Sweet Field ) is the commercial airport of the American metropolis Eugene in the US state of Oregon .
Location and transport links
Eugene Airport is located twelve kilometers northwest of downtown Eugene. Oregon Route 99 runs east of the airport . The airport is not involved in local public transport. Passengers have to use rental cars and taxis.
history
In 1919, the city's first airport, Eugene Air Park , opened. On May 1, 1943, the airport opened at its current location as Mahlon Sweet Field . In the same year, United Airlines became the first airline to fly regularly to the airport. In 1964 a new passenger terminal was opened to replace the old United Airlines passenger terminal. In 1988 the passenger terminal was expanded to include Concourse A. In 2005 the runway 16L / 34R went into operation. In 2008 Concourse A was redesigned.

Runways
Eugene Airport has two parallel runways with a north-south orientation. The western runway 16R / 34L is 2,441 meters long and 46 meters wide, the surface is made of asphalt. The eastern runway 16L / 34R is 1829 meters long and 46 meters wide, the surface is also made of asphalt. It is mostly used by general aviation . The 16L / 34R runway opened in 2005. Since the two runways are around 1,311 meters apart, they can be operated independently of one another.
Passenger terminal
Eugene Airport has a passenger terminal . It is equipped with ten piers in two concourses. There are six gates in Concourse A labeled A1 to A6. Gates A2 to A6 have passenger boarding bridges . The four gates in Concourse B are designated B1 to B3 and B North. In the meantime, two gates in Concourse B had passenger boarding bridges. However, these have now been removed.
The passenger terminal was originally opened in 1964. In 1988 Concourse A was built. In 2008 Concourse A was redesigned.
Freight terminal
The freight terminal is at the southern end of the airport site. It has an area of around 1300 square meters.

The Eugene Airport is served by the airlines Alaska Airlines , Allegiant Air , American Eagle , Delta Connection and United Airlines / United Express used.
There are twelve destinations in the United States , including the hubs of the individual airlines.
