The Sao Vàng (. Engl Sao Vang Airport , vn. Sân bay Sao Vàng , IATA code: THD; ICAO Code: VV01) in Vietnam is currently used mostly for military purposes. It is located 45 km northwest of the city of Thanh Hóa on the national road QL 47 (abbreviation for Vietnamese Quốc Lộ 47) in the Th Bezirk Xuân district of the Thanh Hóa province , Bắc Trung Bộ region . The length of the runway is 3200 m, the width 45 m. It is planned to expand the airport by 2013 so that it can be used more for civil flights and to complement the capacities of the Nội Bài International Airport in the capital Hanoi , 180 km away .
